“I know there’s a reason God gave me breast cancer, and I’m supposed to do something with it.”
–Stefanie Spielman
Ohio State alumna Stefanie Spielman and husband Chris Spielman, former Ohio State and NFL star, helped raise over $6.5 million to support breast cancer research, education, and patient assistance for the Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center.
Stefanie Spielman was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998. Using her strength and positive attitude, she raised millions of dollars for the cause and showed her relentless determination to fight. The devout wife and mother of four courageously fought a decade-long battle against breast cancer. In the fall of 2009, Stefanie passed away. In her memory, we will continue to honor her message: “continue to fight.”
This year’s Scarlet, Gray & Pink: A Walk for Stefanie Spielman will be April 21, 2012 on the West Plaza of the Ohio Union. All proceeds directly support the Stefanie Spielman Fund. Walk this spring in memory of a beloved Buckeye and to honor and support countless others who are and have been affected by breast cancer.
